چکیده

Delayed light emission (DLE) from aggregated chlorophyll is used to probe energy transfer between aggre gated chlorophyll and ß-carotene. Preilluminated ßcarotene when injected into a dark chamber containing aggregated chlorophyll, induces DLE from aggregated chlorophyll. If the dark chamber contains only monomeric chlorophyll, there is no DLE. The intensity of DLE is de pendent on the time of illumination of ß-carotene. The decay of energy stored by the carotene is not a first order process. The first half life is about 2 min, the next about 1 0 min.

Statistical Optimization of The Four Key Factors on β-Carotene Production by Dunaliella salina Under Laboratory Conditions Using Response Surface Methodology

During recent years, there was growing demand in using microalga valuable products such as β-carotene in health care. β-Carotene has anti-cancer and anti-aging properties for human. In Dunaliella salina cells, β-carotene has a major protecting role for biomolecules, when the production of reactive oxygen species elevated. In the present study, we investigated the influence of the four most effe...

The Position of Carotene in the D-l/D-2 Sub-Core Complex of Photosystem II

When the sub-core complex of photosystem II, D1/D2, is irradiated at 436 or 415 nm (absorption by chlorophyll and pheophytin and ß-carotene) or 540 nm (absorption primarily by pheophytin), the low temperature fluorescence spectrum has two maxima, at 685 and 674 nm. This shows the existence of at least two different fluorescent forms of chlorophyll (chlorophyll a and perhaps pheophytin a). When ...

Photopotential of Chlorophyll a Containing Lecithin BLM Formed with and without Carotene

The potential of lecithin BLM with chlorophyll a and with and without carotene has been measured. The BLM containing both chlorophyll a and carotene have shown the highest value of the photopotential. Stronger fatigue effect during light puis excitation has been found on BLM with pigments than with isolated chlorophyll a-protein complex extracted from blue green alga.
